Single-surface paraglider wings represent a major innovation in the world of paragliding, offering unparalleled simplicity and accessibility. Unlike traditional wings, which have an intrados and an extrados, single-surface wings stand out with their minimalist design featuring only an extrados. They consist of a single fabric surface, significantly reducing the weight and volume of the wing when compressed.
Single-surface paragliders are simply the lightest models on the market. The Run and Fly by Dudek weighs less than 1 kg, and the Skin 3 P by Niviuk barely exceeds 1.6 kg. This makes them perfect for incredible hike-and-fly adventures and for achieving impressive ascents in high mountains while descending effortlessly in record time.
However, be aware that the glide ratio differs significantly from that of classic double-surface wings. Single-surface wings are primarily designed to inflate in confined spaces, descend from mountains, and land in tight spots.
