Freedom Parapente, official sponsor of Damien Lacaze in the X Alps 2023, was delighted to organise this evening event in Clermont Ferrand on Friday 26/04/2024. The evening began with a talk in which Damien explained the commitment involved in this incredible race, the physical and mental preparation required to achieve such a feat and, above all, the crucial importance of having a highly motivated and highly competent team around him throughout the race.
The Espace Municipal Georges Conchon was packed for the occasion and many paragliders from the region turned out to enjoy the screening of his film Flying On The Edge, which you can watch on VOD here >>.
This 45-minute film retraces Damien's entire race during the X-Alps 2023. From the start, to his daring climb back up through the Chablais to catch up with the leading pack, and ending with his incredible ascent of the last pass with a breathtaking final glide against the clock, not forgetting the simply monstrous final night walk! In short, an adventure film full of twists and turns, where the athlete's mind and body are put to the ultimate test in an extraordinary atmosphere and aerology.
Once the raft had been swum in, the lights came back on in the room and a question-and-answer game was played with the audience of enthusiasts, who were completely enthralled by Damien's story.
It was a great evening, with an athlete as accessible as he is impressive, and a large, interactive audience.
